“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.

Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.

Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.

Welcome to the Young Nails family!

Pricing, pricing, pricing, pricing and pricing.

Those are all the topics that we're gonna cover in face.

Blog we've talked about this a billion times, but I think it's always good to revisit this topic, because it is one that makes all the difference.

It's one of those things trace where it's like.

If you get your pricing right from the beginning, and then you build you kind of build, your pricing over time grow your pricing.

It solves a lot of problems, it's one of those things where, if you set your pricing right from the beginning, you're not gonna have to worry about so many things right or wrong.

I think you've even talked about this one time with Steph and Steph was saying that she was getting annoyed with her clients asking for extras or something like that or wanting to come in late, and then she realized it was because she just wasn't priced right if your price right, everything's, good yeah, don't get angry because you're making your money and you're setting your your hours to what you want, and you client asks for glitter cool, not a problem.

Cuz I'm gonna charge extra for it.

How do you determine where to start your pricing if you're getting started in the industry? For me, what I did is I set my prices to the same as the salon that I went into starting out, okay starting out, even if even if it was like, maybe a little lower well I was starting out in thier.

Pricing was good.

Okay, awesome, so I wasn't worried about it.

They were one of the highest in in the town, so what I always have done even past? That is when I opened my own salon.

I was always constantly talking with other nail techs in the area.

What are their pricing? What are they doing? I knew what everybody's prices in town or it was I, wanted to be one of the highest in town.

I wasn't the highest, but I was goal.

That was my goal.

I wanted to be up there.

Now someone was charging more and I'm like I, don't I'm gonna put it here and I'm, making a good wage and I'm getting good money for my nails, but it was constant.

I was always checking make sure that I was in price range.

I learned this lesson, because I moved one time and when I came back I found out all my clients were paying one money when they started coming back to me, they're, like oh yeah, I was paying I, mean ten twenty dollars more than what I was charging and I'm like mm-hmm lesson.

This is like so good, especially if you're starting, if you're in a salon, you can start there, but I really love what you said.

Tracy it's like you did your freaking homework.

You were calling salons talking to other nail techs in your area to find out what is the sort of what's the vibe and pricing in the area.

You have to know that right.

So that way you stay kind of in the market range.

If you're, just starting out, you don't want to go to insanely high, especially since you're starting out you got it.

You got to be in like in the market, no I wouldn't be the top price.

Just starting out do I do specials do I.

Do this and and yeah you can again I've.

Always I'm against doing really kind of specials for your fills, but full set specials or two-for-one specials look of the month.

Specials there's there's different options.

You can do that way.

This is like such a great key and great strategy.

Like you there's a lot of people that are like well, my market is really low and there's no way I can charge that, like I, see that all the time on comments and stuff, it's like have you done the full research number one right, but even then fine.

The other thing you said is you want it to be one of the highest in your area like the top price nail service in your area? That's beautiful! So even if maybe your market isn't super high, you can you can start maybe higher than that, but then build even more to be one of the top price salons in the area.

Right, we have our own conversations in our head right.

We make up the stories we think.

Oh my tell my clients this and they're all gonna leave me what you're doing is you're just hurting yourself, you're hurting your own in so you gotta test the waters.

You would be.

We see people all the time, especially come through the o.

Wc I can't charge that first day, that's, but they all say by the end of fry by the end of Friday they're, all going back, they're all upping their prices and they're all getting back to us saying I had no problem right, I didn't! Maybe I lost one person right, even if you lose one person you make up for it and the income but being able to talk to other text.

That's why I truly believe in never talking crap about other text.

In your town we are nail community.

You know I used to throw events when I did distribution and reading and I would tell everybody we'd have like 75 100 girls.

There I'm, like listen, you guys are all here.

Let's, let's talk, let's make some standards for this town right.

If we make standards, then everybody's making good incomes and we're not trying to undercut each other.

All the time these are practices, if you're new that you have to do.

You need to listen to what Tracy is saying, because this is I really believe.

It's a true formula to set you up for like pricing success and do your research talk to other Tech's, have good relationships with them find out what is that sort of like market price vibe and then have that goal of raising your prices eventually, which Tracy did you know what I mean eventually to the point where her full sets like $90 right and then your fill started at 60 right.

So that's amazing and she wasn't in LA.

She was in Redding, you know what I mean, so you can do it.

We've seen it time and time again, but if you are starting out this is a great strategy to do it.

Use it don't forget it stop copying.

My hat, trace and I will be happy next thing.

You know she's gonna walk in here with all black.

You have the market on black.
