Introduction
This is one of the largest complaints I have found from owners of the ubp x700 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player from Sony. The latest released player from Sony in their budget line of Ultra HD including HDR support with Dolby vision. One major flaw or problem has plagued these players and is equally agreeable among owners. However I hope it is safe to say that this issue will be resolved shortly with firmware. I have reached out to Sony and plan on figuring out what options exist to other owners and if anything can be done to fix the problem. I will also follow the issues and continue to work towards a solution for other owners. Although for a budget player at $150.00 compared to other players at $550.00 and up, the X700 appears to be topping the list of best budget player in ratings, considering.

And now I'll address some of the negative aspects, so first things first I'm, definitely well aware of the problems.
People have complained about with the Sony ubp X, seven hundred blue ray player.
The first issue number one deals with the freezing of the player during playback of 4k, Ultra, HD, blu-ray and I.
Think the second most popular biggest complaint is the fact that you'd have to manually select if it's in Dolby vision, high, dynamic range or not.
In fact, you wouldn't think when you popped in a disc to have to check in the menu of the player, to make sure if the player is putting out Dolby vision, HDR or not, but upon further inspection and after checking out the Sony website, it looks like it is something you're gonna have to do manually.
So they ask that you actually press the home button on your blu-ray players.
Remote select the setup tab here are settings and that you go over to the screen settings and make sure your Dolby vision output is selected to on, but once you've made sure that your high dynamic range and Dolby vision is turned on.
As far as getting the player to output bitstream and a dolby atmos object based, surround sound audio format.
Well, I had no issues with that.
Let's just say there was no need to turn any secondary audio BD settings to off.
So one other major point I'll throw out there is that effect of most of the dolby atmos 4k Ultra HD is out there.
You do not have to select whether they're in Dolby Atmos from the disc menu.
However, some of the discs actually require you to select the fact that they're in Dolby Atmos, which means turning it on from the menu like this of the disc and I, can definitely say.
I threw a lot of Dolby Atmos in DTS X content at this play over the last few months and while I can actually definitively say that I've put in over 50 brand-new 4k Ultra HD blu-ray movies into this player without any issues at all up until a certain point.
So, honestly, this is a pretty common issue, specifically with the X 700 and the fact that it'll freeze during playback of a 4k Ultra HD blu-ray movie, but yes, unfortunately, I found it happening to me - with my player as well.
It's kind of funny and interesting that after the 30-day return period had expired from my product.
Well, let's just say it was then that I noticed the issues and so I reached out to a couple of people.
First being the retailer which I purchased the player and second well being Sony, the manufacturer of the player.
I, don't have anything definitive just yet to report on as exactly what they both said, but might I suggest keeping the box around and possibly the receipt and as soon as you get any electronic equipment, it's always advisable that you register the product and the serial number with the company.
So that way, Sony can create a warranty claim for you if the need arises.
Well, so what's gonna be the plan, then I personally would really like to get to the bottom of this problem, which is why I'll make sure to have an update for you guys and let you know what both companies got back to me with so it'll be kind of interesting to see actually what ends up happening, but I can at least say this.
If I return the player well, then I have real, really no ammunition to find out exactly what is wrong with these and how to fix it.
But I can tell you that it's certainly nothing I've done wrong and the discs definitely aren't scratched at all.
So whether it's a software issue or Hardware related as to why the player will randomly freeze during playback of 4k blu-rays.
But I will say this after throwing about 50 brand new 4k, Ultra, HD, blu-ray zatt this player within the last two months about ten of them have throws at at least one point during the movie.
At that point, really your only option is to power cycle the device on and off or eject the disc, make sure it's clean, with the downside.
Being every time you eject it, it loses its spot and memory in the player, although normally just ejecting the disk shouldn't actually cause it to lose its memory spot and well.
You should be able to just pick up where you left off last, but believe it or not.
This has become quite an issue with the owners of the sec's 700 players so far with posts and videos all over the internet, stating that this play randomly freezes and stops playback in the middle.
So what can I suggest if this happens to you or maybe you've just recently purchased the Sony, X 700 or maybe you're still even looking to buy the next 4k Ultra HD blu-ray player and you've seen these negative reviews and thought? Well, maybe I should look elsewhere, so here's what Sony actually suggests they just suggest that you examine the disk clean it reinsert it if it still occurs, do a form or update and then cycle the player on and off, based on just a factory reset, which can be time-consuming, of course, and then continue to tell us well if it continues to happen, send it in for service.
So we're gonna be contacting support here.
We're gonna be dealing with a few different people to try and get this taken care of.
Let's just say that this information wasn't helpful as if now, but in all honesty.
Guys in my true suggestion is it really doesn't happen, all that, often to me and I'm, definitely able to replay the same movie if it did freeze at a certain point, I just eject the disc put it back in skip to that chapter spot, maybe fast-forward or rewind a little bit and it'll be usually regain at that certain point and well to be quite honest with you.
It's really only ever happened to me over the weekend where I've been playing multiple movies for hours and hours and hours without giving the player really a break.
But I can't tell you if it's software or hardware necessarily just yet and while Sony hasn't released any information as to if they'll fix it even yet or acknowledging this and well after going through stacks and stacks and stacks of sound and vision magazines, in order to figure out what the best 4k Ultra HD blu-ray movies are and have been.
I just decided to do the testing and reviewing on my own, but beyond the freezing of the player.
I've actually had no issues at all, so for the time being, at least I'll be keeping the Sony X 700 for now, simply in order just to get to the bottom of this freezing issue.
I can certainly tell you that I've had no issues with playing object, based audio dolby, atmos or DTS X out of this player having to change anything or settings to get it to work, and while the picture and audio quality is pretty much similar to the Oppo UDP 203 I've owned, obviously without the freezing, though so, for those of you that are gonna.
Keep your Sony ubp X 700 player at the very least for right now, guys at least registered that warranty with Sony but I'll be back letting you know exactly what occurred and what I was able to figure out, and while it's also finally time for me to move on to a bigger, dedicated home theater for my videos and so I'm happy to say guys that shortly here, we'll have a change of environment for our videos in the channel and well I'll.
Finally, have what I always wanted more space so tune in soon guys.
I'll go over some of the newest and greatest movie releases.
Also, some of the best 4k Ultra HD blu-ray, as I found, so take care guys and I'll be back shortly.
